WA state.

Research Projects

The WCIPM funds research and demonstration projects that address the unmet pest management needs of the state of Washington.

The 1995 Washington State Legislature created the Washington State Commission on Pesticide Registration (WSCPR) to assist users of pesticides in obtaining and maintaining pesticide registrations for minor uses in Washington State. To more fully meet the state’s

pest management needs, the 1999 Legislature authorized the WSCPR to fund all forms of pest management options including biological, cultural, and chemical control of pests. For more information see the enabling legislation of RCW 15.92.100.

In 2023 the Commission name was changed to the

WA State Commission on Integrated Pest Management

to better reflect its mission. Research proposals that deal with the use of pesticides or integrated pest management strategies on a wide variety of sites may be submitted, including but not limited to the following areas: agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, structural pest control, right-of-way, noxious weeds, nursery, greenhouse, landscape, ornamental plants, and mosquito control districts

The Commissioners

The Commission is comprised of representatives of commodity groups, such as Hops and Wheat, and state agencies including WSDA and WSU. For a full list of Commissioners please see our About Us page.

The Commission annually reviews research proposals at its

December meeting. The 2025 meeting will be Dec. 16 and 17 in Ellensburg.

Please see our Research page for the funding proposal and guidelines. The deadline for submissions is November 12th.
